A shared language for understanding AI use cases in financial services.
AI is changing how financial institutions approach risk, compliance, customer engagement and operations. As adoption accelerates, understanding where AI is being applied and what the available evidence tells us becomes increasingly important.
Building on FCA's AI Spotlight and the Supercharged Sandbox, the AI Spotlight Observatory aims to create a structured and insight-driven reference that highlights where AI is making a difference across the financial ecosystem. It creates a shared language for classifying AI use cases and a growing evidence base of real world implementations across financial services.
Developed in collaboration with the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE), the initiative combines the FCA’s regulatory innovation leadership with CFTE’s expertise in capability building, applied research, and ecosystem engagement.
Officially launching at the Singapore FinTech Festival 2026, the initiative demonstrates the UK’s leadership in connecting innovation, regulation, and global collaboration helping to advance understanding of AI’s evolving role in finance.
The aim is a clearer, more comparable picture of AI adoption, built through documented examples and evidence.
