CFTE, with Global Women in AI and Singtel, put a cross-section of the industry on one stage: a telco, a bank, a hospital, a university, an industrial AI startup and a documentary studio. A story-led, interactive evening on what AI changed in their actual work, and what it did not.

Real people. Real AI. Real leverage.

On 27 July 2026 at the Singtel Academy, CFTE, Global Women in AI and Singtel put ten practitioners on one stage to describe what AI changed in their own work, and what it did not.

The speakers came from a telco, a bank, a hospital, a university, an industrial AI startup and a documentary studio. They disagreed on plenty. They converged on one thing: the constraint is no longer the technology.

More than 160 people were in the room. Every talk has since been written up, and the articles are collected below alongside the quotes that framed the evening.

Ten speakers, three arguments that held across all of them

Direction is human, speed is machine

Nobody on stage argued that AI supplies purpose. Several argued the opposite: once the direction is set, AI compresses the distance to it. The scarce input is deciding what is worth building, not building faster.

Culture is the multiplier, not the add-on

Adoption stalls where people do not feel safe experimenting. Singtel's framing was explicit: human intelligence and artificial intelligence multiplied by cultural intelligence, not added to it. Without psychological safety the tools sit unused.

Trust is what is actually at risk

The sharpest warnings were not about job loss. They were about displaced trust: patients trusting a chatbot over a clinician, teams trusting an output nobody interrogated. Accountability does not transfer to a model.

Perhaps it's not about whether AI is going to replace doctors, but whether or not this increasing reliance on AI tools is going to cause our patients to replace their trust in our doctors and our clinicians.

Principal Clinical Pharmacist, Singapore General Hospital

AI extends our capacity to document, search, compare, retrieve and connect. And human intelligence gives those observations direction and meaning.
